Malas should enhance the clarity of meditation by letting the gemstone facilitate purity and simplicity. The energy of each stone has a certain job it can do for us. Hold in your dominant hand, resting the mala over your middle finger. Use the thumb to move the beads, one bead for every repletion of your mantra or prayer. (Do not use the index finger while using your mala as it represents the ego. We keep the ego out of meditation.)
